Porchfests are never gigs which I consider. I’m not sure why because if there’s any grassroots promotional tool, it seems like this it. Community-based music? People seeking out new music? Intimate performances? Porchfests seem like the way to go.

I played my first one last year. I got an email from a host asking me to play her house. It was awesome. Nice people, great food, & a supportive crowd. I should be seeking them but for whatever reason, they slip my mind.

I didn’t consider Somerville Porchfest until a musician I just met mentioned it. It’s probably the peak of all the Porchfests. Unfortunately, after the passing of my buddy, Joe Grafton, who was quite embedded in that city, I’m out of contacts.
