I didn’t even know Roslindale Porchfest existed until I received a DM from someone I hadn’t heard from in at least a decade. I knew Lindsay from summers in Wareham years ago. She said her signed up to host artists and asked if I was doing it and/ or interested in playing. A few weeks later, I’m at her house playing for a local crowd with a 1 hour set sandwiched between a Foo Fighters cover band and singer/ songwriter who plays other Porchfest.

These types of gigs are generally the best: low-key, supportive crowd, a built-in audience, and a great time to try out new material. This one wasn’t any exception. The first band, The Cover Up, played the first Foo Fighters album from front-to-back. The singer/ songwriter after me, Lars Wicklund, played covers and originals.

Lars said I could use his PA and without knowing the PA type, I loaded both my electric guitar, iPad (with backing tracks), and acoustic guitar (in case the backing tracks didn’t work). It worked out great: loud and clear. Big time save by Lars.

Lindsay (& Ryan) was an amazing hostess. Food, drinks, brownies, fire pit, great company, etc. Rumor is there will be another Porchfest in their future next year. Hopefully I get to be a part of it again.
